SOLDIERS INVADE JONATHAN'S COUSIN'S COMPANY

Armed military men at about 8pm on Friday took over Kakatar Construction site at Maitama, a company said to be owned by Mr. Azibaola Robert, who is referred to as former President Goodluck Jonathan’s cousin.

The company is handling the provision of engineering infrastructure contract at the Goodluck District also known as Maitama extension. Robert has been having a running battle with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over one of his companies, Oneplus Holdings.

Construction workers who resumed for work on Saturday morning, it was gathered, were chased out of the site by fierce-looking armed soldiers who refused to speak to our correspondent on their mission. One of the site workers who volunteered his name as Mr. Maxwell Udom said that no site worker was allowed entrance by the armed military men, stressing that neither was prior notice was served before their action.

The Managing Director of Kakatar, Mr. Azibaola Robert, has been having a running battle with EFCC over one of his companies, Oneplus Holdings. This has led to EFCC freezing Kakatar’s accounts as well and forced the company to sack over 2000 workers recently.

The EFCC action has stalled on-going capital projects being handled by Kakatar in Abuja. It is however not certain if this present sudden military deployment has anything to do with his running battles with government for which persecution has been alleged. All efforts to get the reaction of the military proved abortive at the time of filing this report.
